Manifesto

man·i·fes·to

noun \ˌma-nə-ˈfes-(ˌ)tō\

: a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer.

I resolve:

  • to live simply and abundantly
  • to love deeply and honestly
  • to work diligently and passionately
  • to eat intentionally and exercise proactively
  • to rest habitually

To live simply and intentionally.

It has been my goal for a long time to discover a way to live simply in the midst of this complicated time we’re in. American society has glorified progressiveness and acquiring more and better possessions and emphasized social media and in doing so undermined the things in life that truly matter. These distractions have sucked away the intrinsic joy of living. I resolve to rediscover the way of being content and grateful and living intentionally, for both myself and the people I love.

To love deeply and honestly

Social media has created a serious problem in our relationships. The availability of a constant, superficial sense of connectedness has left us feeling more disconnected and lonely than ever. I resolve to be more present with the ones I love, to listen and truly see them, and let them see who I am in return.

To work diligently and passionately

I believe that everyone in this earth has a unique purpose for being alive. We all have something invaluable to contribute to the world and those around us. I resolve to pursue the things that light me up and to light the fire of those I come in contact with, to not waste the gifts and abilities I have been given, to make a difference in every way I am able.

To eat intentionally and exercise proactively

We each have one body in this life. Our body is a temple. It is the means by which we live, not something to be abused for our pleasure. Just like I wouldn’t put anything but pure gasoline in my car, I resolve to fuel my body with the purest nourishment I can, to take care of it so that it can function the way it was intended.

To rest habitually

Rest is crucial to our soul. Mentally, emotionally, and physically we need it to survive and, yes, thrive! I resolve to rest frequently and consistently, to sit in silence and listen, to make space for myself, my thoughts and emotions, and for others.

I so hope you will decide to join me on this journey to living simply yet abundantly.
